Feeling Stuck in a Career Rut?
When we are stuck in a career rut, it can seem like
- You are caged in your current role
- Your career has reached a dead end
- You are dissatisfied with your work
- You are doing it just for the money
- You don’t know what else you can do
Being in a career rut is dissatisfying.
Dissatisfaction feels like a persistent state of emptiness or frustration. You may be fairly productive or doing well externally, but it doesn’t feel complete internally. Dissatisfaction manifests as persistent Monday blues and mid-week blues. You resent the working week and eagerly await the end of the working day and the weekends. You are struggling with enthusiasm for your work. You experience a lack of motivation at work. There is the sense of being stuck at a dead-end, unable to move forward or get unstuck.
So how to get out of the trap?
Coaching can be a powerful tool for transformation if you’re feeling trapped in a career rut. It helps you gain clarity by exploring the root causes of your dissatisfaction, identifying your strengths and passions, and setting actionable goals.
Coaching reveals new perspectives and potential pathways through reflective conversations and insightful discoveries. This process supports you in realigning your career with your personal values, turning stagnation into growth, and moving forward with renewed purpose.

What is the Purpose of Saner Work Life?
I’ve spent far too many hours at work, wondering if I was doing enough, if I should be doing more, and if what I was doing was even valued. I spent so many years at work with a sub-optimal feeling of satisfaction. I was grateful for the job, the role, and the pay because I had never expected to be where I was, but there was a gap.
I did not have the bandwidth or time to work with this underlying dissatisfaction. As a trained coach, I wanted to explore this with a coach. But as I looked to find the right kind of coach, I was faced with the fact that coaches were super expensive. One session with a good coach costs anywhere from $100 to $400.
That cost was prohibitive for me, as I envisaged that the inner work in this space would unearth many deeper issues that needed work, and I wouldn’t be able to afford that.
From this was born Saner Work Life. My aspiration is to make coaching affordable and accessible to regular people so that it is not a luxury to be able to find satisfaction in our personal and professional lives. The luxury to just be and explore things at their own pace without the coaching draining their bank accounts in the blink of an eye.
Finally,
I started my sessions with Siri in mid-2021 and continue to benefit from her guidance. I found Siri’s approach very different from what I saw in my previous coaching experiences.
Testimonials
The passion and skill that Shirisha has for mentoring and coaching is a true gift; I must say, the way she was the tugboat to my otherwise lost ship at sea. I didn’t even realise how she guided me so effortlessly to topics that caught my attention, made me interested in learning, in life, in new concepts and introduced me to mindfulness.
The biggest turning point was me feeling for myself, not just empathising with other people and putting them first. Empathising with myself was and is the biggest achievement because Shirisha taught me and still reminds me on occasion how to listen to my own feelings and voice and how to stand up for myself.
I can’t trust talking about my career and aspirations with anyone; I had bad experiences and received advice that was anything but friendly or productive. That is another spectrum Shirisha is working with me: how to trust myself and treat myself with kindness, and she leads by example. Recently, I called on Shirisha to ask for professional guidance; she patiently listened to everything I had to say, muddled thought process and everything, worked through the confusion (literally see the image of a person detangling a ball of thread here) and was able to give me a solution, a perfect fit solution.
